Responsibilities
Conduct geologic and hydrogeologic investigations of complex sites.
Lead field teams in data collection, management, and analysis.
Support client environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, and project permitting efforts.
Oversee groundwater monitoring programs.
Develop work scope, coordinate, and manage fieldwork to support environmental assessment and remediation projects.
Develop and track project budgets.
Prepare high-quality technical presentations, reports, letters, plans, and proposals.
Communicate project findings and updates to clients, regulators, and team members.
Coordinate and oversee subcontractors.
Lead report production efforts, including quality assurance, summary and presentation of results, clear technical writing and visual presentation of results.
Contribute to a team atmosphere through collaboration with technical experts, project managers, colleagues, and subcontractors.
Qualifications/Requirements
A bachelor's degree or higher in Earth Sciences, Geology, or related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
Minimum of two years environmental consulting experience in California conducting site investigation and remediation.
Minimum of five years related work experience, i.e., applied hydrogeology, well site and drilling geologist experience, engineering services, etc.
Registration as a California Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG) or Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively with multiple and diverse team members.
Willing and able to perform tasks from start through finish.
Experience responding to California Health and Safety and Water Code requests.
Experience with federal environmental regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
Ability to travel for client meetings and field projects.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
Who this role is for
Candidates with at least five years of professional or technical services experience.
Candidates with a minimum of two years of environmental consulting experience in California.
Candidates able to assume responsibility for budget, schedule, and performance of groundwater monitoring, regulatory reporting, and field investigation projects.
Individuals with experience interacting with California regulatory agencies (DTSC, RWQCB, local agencies).
Professionals who are comfortable leading field efforts in accordance with company policies and with limited oversight.
Who this role is NOT for
Recent graduates or candidates with less than 2 years of environmental consulting experience.
Candidates without California environmental regulatory response experience.
Candidates seeking primarily field-only or technician roles.

Staff Geologist
Geo Blue has an immediate opening in our San Rafael, California office for a staff geologist or environmental engineer, with 0 to 3 years of experience. This position entails conducting field investigations and assisting the project team in evaluation and reporting field investigation results under the direction of a senior professional. As a small company, we value resourcefulness, thoughtfulness and self-motivated professionals.
Responsibilities
Supporting preparation of technical documents, including quality assurance project plans, monitoring and sampling plans, health and safety plans, field records, and regulatory reports.
Performing assignments requiring application of standardized techniques, procedures and criteria.
Performing field investigations, including sampling of environmental media (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, sediment, air) and observing and documenting technician field activities.
Compiling and evaluating technical data and coordinating with laboratories.
Managing environmental data and databases.
Assisting with subcontractor management, including quote procurement, quality control, and execution of contract documents.
Communicating with subcontractors and other staff.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Civil/Environmental Engineering or related scientific field is required; Master’s degree a plus.
0-3 years of experience, entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
Experience with environmental sampling, site characterization, and/or remediation.
Experience with data management, review, and statistical analysis.
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and as part of a team.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus.
